A Pioneer in Indian Political Cartooning

From Gwalior to national prominence, Irfan Khan has redefined how India engages with politics through art

Starting his journey at age 17 in 1982 with Dainik Bhaskar, Irfan Khan introduced political cartoons to Lucknow in 1992—a concept so revolutionary that ten newspapers followed suit within months. His work with India's leading publications including The Hindu, The Indian Express, and The Economic Times has made him one of the country's most recognized voices in visual commentary. Today, he creates 3-4 cartoons daily, continuing to challenge, inform, and entertain audiences across print and digital media.
